School Prospectus

For our Newbridge 50 Topic this term 'School Prospectus', we have carried out lots of research on our school and especially why parents choose to send their children to Newbridge.
We have finally finished our very own class version of a school prospectus and today we presented it to Mr Hancock and Ms Kennaugh.

We are all incredibly proud of our amazing prospectus and are so pleased that it will be a feature in the office for any new parents and families thinking of coming to our school!

World Book Day and shadow puppets!

Can you see anyone you recognise?

Last week, 3H celebrated World Book Day with plenty of glamour, style and humour.

A huge thank you to all the great efforts each and every child (and parent & carer) went through to ensure they looked the part of their favourite book character.

During the day, the children immersed themselves in a range of Aesop's Fables, retold through the wonderful words of Michael Morpurgo. After choosing their favourite fable, the children worked in groups of three to create detailed shadow puppets, an entertaining script and an eye-catching theatre!

Using a range of transparent, translucent and opaque materials, each group added tiny details including glowing eyes and scales!

Tornadoes!

Year 3 were incredibly lucky to have a visit today from our very own resident tornado expert, Mrs Etheridge!

As well as captivating the children with her first-hand experience of dodging a level 4 tornado, Mrs Etheridge guided us through two fantastic websites which you can access for yourself by clicking on the links below...

How a tornado is made:

Arrays for multiplication

In Maths this term, we have been looking at ways to multiply and divide. We have used the array method and this week some of the children have become teachers for the day and created their own lesson to show how to multiply and divide with the arrays. Here is one lesson by Benji and Sulayman showing how to multiply. Stay tuned as more lessons to come soon....

Christmas is all about giving...

Over the past few weeks, Year 3 have been learning about the Tuleeni Orphanage in a place called Moshi, Tanzania. With the support of many helpful adults, the children have been making friendship bracelets and Christmas cards which have now been sent to Africa in time for Christmas day.

The children have been so incredibly keen to help in whichever way possible that they came up with the idea to run a charity stall at the recent Christmas Féte. Groups of children volunteered to run the stall in shifts, selling a range of books, toys, clothes and all sorts... making a grand total sale of £114! A donation which I'm sure the orphanage will be delighted to receive.
